Realised benefits
A client approached Cenheard when a PUWER assessment had been conducted on one of their newly installed manufacturing lines. The assessment noted multiple non-compliances with the machinery guarding. Quoting incorrect size openings, full body access and access to dangerous parts of the machinery.
Cenheard’s inhouse team of machinery safety experts deemed a full guarding survey in line with BS EN ISO 13857 would provide the client with all the information needed to rectify the non-compliances. After an in-depth site survey of the equipment, interviews with onsite personnel, Cenheard’s team went away to compile all the information gathered and research possible solutions.
The client was then provided with a comprehensive report outlining all gaps in guarding, identifying the exact areas’ and all possible hazards within reach. The report also included compliant methods to rectify all the gaps on the machinery, designed and specified with the interviews with onsite personnel in mind and the relevant standards.
This approach ensured the proposals would adequately restrict access to danger zones in a compliant manner with no effect on the day to day running of the manufacturing line.
Cenheard’s report was then handed to the OEM to allow them to rectify all the required guarding design changes. The OEM was then provided with a digital copy of Cenheard’s reach distance leaflet to aid in simplifying their future designs and restrict further instances of non-compliance.
