Realised benefits
By involving Cenheard from the start, our client was able to understand non-compliances before OEM’s completed the final site acceptance test (SAT) . This allowed ample time for the OEM’s rectify any issues before the equipment sign off. Saving time and expense. and by getting issues resolved during the commissioning phase.
All issues were identified by analysing compliance with PUWER and relevant standards. This included Type-C standards where applicable. We identified internal safety and machinery safety requirements, allowing the client to begin their journey to a compliant safe environment.
By conducting safety function and validation tests on all relevant equipment, Cenheard were able to identify safety circuit design compliance and safety integration compliance. Cenheard then identified performance level (PL) compliance with the relevant standards for the specific equipment and compliance with PUWER. Common issues included:
- A lack of integration of the safety circuit, identifying potentially dangerous scenarios where access into adjacent zones was possible without which the client would never be aware.
- Safety circuits not meeting the required performance levels for a specific safety function as specified within the relevant Type C standard.
- Guarding non-compliances such as insufficient reach distances and inadequate construction.
Going that extra mile
At Cenheard we don’t just identify problems, we work with right people to put solutions in place. We played a key role in aiding the client and the OEM’s in designing suitable and compliant safety integration circuits. In some cases, the OEM even took away designs and embedded them in their future machine designs!
Through our wealth of knowledge and experience we were able to offer the client full turn key solutions in collaboration with OEM’s, fabricators and system integrators. All of this has helped our client create a safe and compliant woodworking environment, leading to higher staff retention, increased productivity and fewer breakdowns.
