The health and safety at work act of 1974 places general duties on employers. These duties require employers to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees. So far as is reasonably practicable.
Further legislation has reinforced this duty with much more explicit duties. These include the requirement to assess and remove risk in their workplace.
